JYO-103 The Art and Practice of Vedic Astrology - Prediction

9 Class Meetings
Prerequisites: Introduction to Vedic Astrology, JYO-101, JYO-102

Course Description:

This class is designed to enhance your ability to analyze and synthesize the Vedic chart in breadth and depth. We will explore some of the varga (harmonic) charts so that you will become comfortable incorporating their analysis into a Vedic chart reading and prediction.

We will introduce prediction with Ashtakavarga and Varshaphala (solar return) and deepen your understanding predicting with the Vimshottari dashas and Gochara (transits).

Syllabus:

Class Meeting 1: Introduction to Varshaphala - concepts & techniques

Introduction to the Vedic Solar Return or annual chart; how to cast the annual chart; review of Tajaka aspects & yogas; Panchavaargiya Bala (the 5 factors of planetary strength); the Muntha; Determining the Lord of Year; Yearly Dashas.

Class Meeting 2: Predicting with the Varshaphala

Significations of the Rahu-Ketu axis, the planets, and houses in the annual chart; Strength of the Lagna;Nabhasa Yogas; Tajaka Yogas; the Parasara Yogas that are applicable; Making predictions with the Varshaphala.

Class Meeting 3: Introduction to Ashtakavarga

The week explains the numerical scheme of Ashtakavarga used with gochara (transits) to predict and time events.

Class Meeting 4: Predicting & Timing with Ashtakavarga

This week focuses on the application of Ashtakavarga in predicting and timing events.

Class Meeting 5: Yearly Predictions & Confluence

This week begins the overlay of various methods of prediction to look for confluence. We will be using the Vimshottari Dasha System along with Gochara, Ashtakavarga and the Varshaphala to make yearly predictions.

Class Meeting 6: Case Study One - part 1

This week covers how to give a general life reading and specific areas of focus readings. We will choose our case studies to use for the balance of class. Part 1 is analysis of the birth chart and varga charts for prominent areas of focus to arrive at general predictions in the life of the native.

Class Meeting 7: Case Study One - part 2

This week we will apply Vimshottari Dashas, Gochara, Ashtakavarga & the Varshaphala to time the predictions we arrived at for our first case study chart as we use dates of major life events for the native.

Class Meeting 8: Case Study Two - part 1

Analysis of the birth chart and varga charts for prominent areas of focus to arrive at general predictions in the life of the native.

Class Meeting 9: Case Study Two - part 2

Adding Vimshottari Dashas, Gochara, Ashtakavarga & the Varshaphala to time the predictions we arrived at for our first case study chart as we use dates of major life events for the native.
