Exploring Ayanamsa: A Vedic Astrology Workshop with Andrew Mason

1 Class Meetings
Prerequisites: Knowledge of Vedic Astrology that includes vargas & dashas.

Course Description:

Vedic Astrologers are confronted with multiple choices when selecting Ayanamsa. This primary calculation affects not only the positions of planets in a birth chart, but also the subsequent divisional charts (Vargas), planetary periods (Dashas) etc. By default many astrologers prefer the value recommended by N. C. Lahiri, but is this really the best option?

While researching the subject of Ayanamsa for his book, Andrew Mason became fascinated by this mystery, deciding to dedicate an whole chapter to the subject of Ayanamsa which includes origins, fiduciary stars and dates of zodiacal coincidence. He then tested them against life events to make his ultimate decision.

In this workshop, Andrew will share the results of his research and teach us how to explore various Ayanamsa values, to make a more informed decision about our choice of Ayanamsha.

NOTE: Note: This is a hands on workshop, you will need to bring the following: Vedic Astrology software, your birth chart, and two or three life events.

Andrew will present all the information you need to begin to research Ayanamsa in the morning. Then we will break for lunch, and each person will work individually on their own to test various ayanamsas against their chart and life events. The Virtual Classroom will be left open so those attending online have the option to work as a group. Andrew will re-join us at 3:00 PM EST to discuss our preliminary findings and answer any questions that arose during our exploration of Ayanamsa.
