BASIC 002

6 Class Meetings
Prerequisites: BASIC 001

Course Description:

This course expands what the students learned in Basic 001 and takes the beginner deeper in the study of Astrology. It is designed to continue to prepare the students for advanced studies by introducing the students to the Aspects and how the planets interact with each other. We explore the basics of reading a chart, patterns to look for, and other techniques.

Syllabus:

Class Meeting 1: Introduction to Aspects

This lesson introduces the Aspects and why they are important when interpreting a chart, how to identify them, and how the planetary and sign energies play out in our lives. We learn the difference between soft and hard impacts and how they impact us.

Class Meeting 2: The Major Ptolemeic Planetary Aspects

We continue with exploring the planetary aspects and the dynamic relationship between the planets in our charts. Our focus in this lesson is learning the Major Ptolemaic Planetary Aspects: Conjunctions, Oppositions, Squares, Trines and Sextiles and how they work in our daily lives.

Class Meeting 3: Adding the Angles

This lesson brings in the Angles and the Quincunx and begins to familiarize students with the concept of separating and applying aspects. We focus our studies on why aspects to Angles are important and how the planets forming these aspects become key players in your chart.

Class Meeting 4: Rising Sign, the Moon, and the Sun

Our remaining focus for this course will be to begin to bring together everything we’ve learned. We start to understand what to look for when reading a chart: the significance of the Rising Sign, the Moon, and the Sun. We begin to explore patterns to look for when reading a chart.

Class Meeting 5: Review and Practice with Charts

We continue with what we learned in previous lesson by practicing at a very junior level with a friend’s or family member’s chart. We review all key lessons learned, review questions and practice with charts.

Class Meeting 6: Introducing the Ephemeris

Students will be introduced and taught how to read the ephemeris.
