Also known as mundane houses, are a division of the horoscope into twelve segments beginning with the Ascendant or 1st House cusp and numbering the houses 1- 12 moving counter-clockwise around the chart. Each house corresponds to certain aspects of daily living and affairs of life.

Houses are divided into three groups, Angular (1st, 4th 7th and 10th) which are the strongest and which correspond to the Cardinal signs), Succedent (2nd, 5th, 8th and 11th) which are neutral and which correspond to the fixed signs,) and cadent (3rd, 6th, 9th and 12th which are the weakest, and which correspond to the mutable signs).
