Southern Hemisphere

The half of the Earth which is located below the equator and which appears as the top half of the chart. The Table of Houses are generally developed for the Northern Hemisphere, therefore, when calculating a chart for someone who was born south of the equator one must add twelve hours to the sidereal time, calculate the house cusps and then exchange the signs for their opposites. Many astrologers believe that because the seasons are reversed in the Southern Hemisphere that there is some question as to whether the traditional associations apply.
